A New Year, A New List

The end of 2013 marked the end of the busiest year of my life. Somehow, in the span of 365 days, I managed to have two weddings, move out of NYC, apply for a visa, move to the UK, and find a new job. Meanwhile, S spent the entire summer renovating our house and we’ve spent the last few months organizing and finishing up the house. Obviously, it was a great year, and I can’t believe how much we both managed to accomplish, but I’m pretty relieved that the only major plans I currently have for 2014 are attending other peoples’ weddings.

With that said, I have been wanting to put together a list of goals for the new year, specifically related to settling in here in London (unfortunately some of these are quite boring, yet necessary, and I imagine will cause me many headaches):

1. Cook Sunday roast (with no help from S)

2. Do more sightseeing/exploring – I’ve been around to all the usual spots like the Tower of London and the Eye, but I know S is dying to drag me to several museums

3. Learn to drive

4. Learn my way around Central London well enough that I don’t need to refer to my phone every two blocks

5. Get my own credit card

6. Try Indian food – as in eat an actual meal and not just one bite

7. Visit Scotland/Ireland/Wales

8. Do a pub crawl around our neighborhood

9. See a West End show – technically I’ve already done this, but it was a couple years ago, I was by myself, and I was seeing Dirty Dancing…so I feel like it shouldn’t really count

10. Bite the bullet and switch my iTunes account to the UK so I can start downloading things again

11. Join some type of club or group – I used to have a very active dodgeball career in the states so I need something to fill the void

12. Learn a majority of the chants at Arsenal matches so I don’t have to keep asking S what everyone’s saying

13. Check out some of the markets, including Portobello, Spitalfields and our local farmers’ market

14. Find other TV shows to watch besides “Friends” and “Geordie Shore” and eventually watch an episode of Dr. Who so I can see what all the fuss is about

15. Ride one of the Barclays bikes around town (and hopefully not kill myself in the process)

Let’s see how many I can actually accomplish, and which ones I manage to avoid for as long as possible :)
